about the name one player podcast

I definitely was.

That feeling is a big part of why I started the Name One Player Podcast.

For a long time, I felt like enjoying sports as a woman came with conditions - you had to constantly prove you belonged and have the “right” answers ready when you were hit with a knowledge quiz.

I was deep in NFL Twitter, and while I loved it, I also got tired of the misogynistic gatekeeping that often comes with sports culture. It felt like there weren't many spaces for the sports girlies to openly gush about the sports that we loved.

So I decided to create it.

are you sick of being asked to "name one player" ?!

hi! i'm nicole - the host of the name one player podcast.

I love to yap and I love sports. The NFL is my biggest passion and the Minnesota Vikings are my one true love. Although football is at the top of my list, there really isn't any sport that I don't enjoy diving into.

I noticed (and got really annoyed) that every time I would get excited about sports or talk about a team I loved, it would often turn into a quiz. Like I had to prove how much I knew before my opinion was valid.

Sports are about community I love connecting with people over them. I especially love seeing women share that same passion without feeling like they have to justify it first.

That’s why I created Name One Player - to make a safe space for the women who love sports where you never have to dull your excitement or passion. You won't ever be asked to "name one player" here - I promise.
